N.Poussin. "Conquered Jerusalem" (fragment)Lully's operatic creative work developed in the last fifteen years of his life - in 70s and 80s. During this time he created fifteen operas: "Le Triomphe de l'amour" (1672), "Cadmus et Hermione" (1673), "Alceste" (1674), "Tèsèe" (1675), "Atys" (1677), "Isis" (1677), "Psychèe" (1678), Bellèrofont" (1679), "Proserpine" (1680), "Persèe" (1682), 'Phaèton" (1683), "Amadis" (1684), "Roland" (1685), "Armide" (1686), "Acis et Galatèe"(1686). Among them widespread popularity gained: "Tèsèe", "Atys", "Persèe", "Roland" and especially "Armide". Finalled arioso turns, melodically relative to airs de cour (court airs), tender, coquettish or written in vigorously-march or mincing, dance rhytms. Scenes-monologues of reciting were ended by airs.
